TEEN SENSATION ALAJBEGOVIC INSPIRES BOSNIA PAST QATAR.
Kerim Alajbegovic announced himself on the World Cup stage with a record-
breaking goal as Bosnia & Herzegovina defeated Qatar 3-1 to move to the brink of
the Round of 32.
The 18-year-old became Bosnia’s youngest-ever World Cup scorer when he curled a
superb effort into the net from the edge of the box in the first half, setting his side on
course for a vital victory.
Alajbegovic’s stunning strike helped Bosnia secure all three points in a must-win
encounter, with the Balkan nation now waiting to discover if their record is enough to
secure qualification.
The teenager, who plays for RB Salzburg, was named Player of the Match after an
outstanding display that showcased his pace, skill, and confidence.
Goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj was full of praise for the youngster after the game.
“I’m really happy for him. At that age, to be able to play in such a big game and show that he can score goals week in, week out,” Vasilj said.
“It’s still a long way for him, and he can still develop a lot, so I just hope that he
continues that way.”
While veteran captain Edin Dzeko celebrated his 150th international appearance, it
was Alajbegovic who stole the spotlight and gave Bosnia fans hope for the future.
