The Netherlands will be without Jurrien Timber for Sunday’s Nations League quarter-final second leg against Spain, as the Arsenal defender has been ruled out due to illness.

Timber, who also missed the 2-2 first-leg draw in Rotterdam, will not travel to Valencia, the Dutch FA confirmed on Friday.

Ronald Koeman’s side will also be without Jorrel Hato, who is suspended after receiving a late red card in the first leg.

To bolster his squad, Koeman has called up Aston Villa’s Ian Maatsen as defensive cover.

Maatsen, who previously received an emergency call-up during Euro 2024, is still awaiting his first senior cap for the Netherlands.
