Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush is an injury doubt for Sunday’s derby against Manchester United after limping out of Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old lasted just four minutes in Ouagadougou before being forced off following a heavy challenge.
Egypt’s Football Association later confirmed Marmoush had suffered a bruised knee ligament and will undergo scans on his return to Cairo.
Signed from Eintracht Frankfurt in January for £59 million, Marmoush has scored eight goals in 28 appearances for City this year.
His potential absence comes as a major concern for Pep Guardiola, with both Manchester clubs under pressure to deliver a statement performance after stuttering starts to the new Premier League season.
