Lekki, Lagos – December 7, 2025 – The atmosphere at THE MONARCH event centre, Lekki, Lagos was electric as friends, family, and esteemed colleagues gathered to celebrate the 50th birthday of Engr. Segun Odusanya, the Managing Director of Erasko Energy Limited. This momentous occasion was a heartfelt tribute to a man whose journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Engr. Odusanya, a distinguished alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, began his academic pursuits in chemical engineering, laying the groundwork for a successful career in the energy sector. His time at OAU was marked by dedication, hard work, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Those who knew him then recall a passionate student who not only excelled in his studies but also inspired his peers with his vision for the future. It wasn’t surprising he finished top of his class with a first-class honour in Chemical Engineering.
After completing his degree, Engr. Odusanya took a bold step that would shape his career: he moved to Canada to further his education, earning a full scholarship for his Master’s degree at the University of Alberta, Canada under the tutelage of Professor Selma Guigard, he honed his skills and knowledge, which would later play a crucial role in his contributions to the industry. His commitment to learning and growth paid off as he returned to Nigeria equipped with advanced technologies and innovative practices that allowed him to make a lasting impact in the energy sector. Today, he is recognized as a guru in Oil and Gas Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Maintenance, both locally and internationally.
The celebration was graced by notable dignitaries, underscoring Engr. Odusanya’s influence in both his professional and personal spheres. Among the distinguished guests were Mr. Maxwell Oko, Founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Erasko Energy Limited; Mazi Victor Okoronkwo, Chairman of Erasko Energy, and his wife, Lady Anne Okoronkwo; as well as Dr. Wole Kupolokun, Managing Director of DROK Energy, Jude Uwandu, Chief Financial Officer of Erasko Energy Limited



Other dignitaries and alumni of Obafemi Awolowo University include Kayode Fadahunsi, Managing Director of AVA Capital Partners, Mr. Yemi Ajao, Group Chief Investment and Business Development Officer at Oodu’a Investment Company Limited, Mr. Yemi Adeyemo, a seasoned banker and IT expert, Engr. Dotun Oladeji and Mr. Francis Adewole. Engr. Yomi Akinfesoye, Publisher of The Beacon Nigeria newspaper who happens not just to be celebrant’s course mate at OAU but room mates for three consecutive academic sessions also graced the occasion.


Worthy of mention is the presence of members of the prestigious Ijebu elite club “Egbe Bobamayegun Okunrin Asiwaju Akile Ijebu,” one of the elite clubs recognized for their participation in the annual Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu Ode and community development. Engr. Odusanya, a proud member of this esteemed group, received a heartfelt presentation of a plaque bearing his picture from the club, symbolizing their appreciation and respect for his contributions to the community. Their presence served as another testament to the profound impact he has had on those around him and his community.

A particularly touching moment came when Engr. Odusanya’s father took to the stage. With pride radiating from his eyes, he shared, “I am a proud father of a successful engineer. I am proud of his successful life, his dedication to hard work and resilience. Segun has always been driven, and his achievements reflect his hard work and determination. Watching him grow into the leader he is today fills my heart with joy.” His father’s words resonated deeply, reminding everyone of the importance of family support in achieving one’s dreams.

The evening was made even more memorable by heartfelt video tributes recorded by colleagues, friends, and family. Touching messages from old schoolmates from elementary and secondary schools, including Gbagada Grammar School, as well as professional colleagues in the oil and gas industry, highlighted the positive and valuable relationships they have all shared with the celebrant.
The evening came alive with the music of Wasiu Haruna Ishola, affectionately known as Lagunja 1. A seasoned Nigerian artist and son of the late Chief Haruna Ishola Bello, he is also the brother of musician Babatunde Haruna. Lagunja 1 infused the celebration with vibrant energy, elevating the festive atmosphere.

As the evening came to a close, the love and admiration for Engr. Odusanya were palpable. The celebrant, Engr. Segun Odusanya is married to Mrs. Irene Nkem Odusanya, an accomplished alumna of Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Glasgow. She serves as the Managing Director of JCPMax Medical Diagnosis and Laboratories, with branches in Lekki, Ajah, and Anthony Village, Lagos. Together, they exemplify a partnership built on mutual support and shared ambition.
