Super Eagles May Rotate as Chelle Eyes Bigger AFCON Picture

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has suggested he could rotate his squad for the Super Eagles’
final Group C match against Uganda at the Africa Cup of Nations, insisting his priority is
managing the entire group rather than relying on a fixed starting eleven.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference in Fez, Chelle said several players in the squad
deserved opportunities.
“There are many players in this group who deserve to be part of the team, for this game and for
the next games,” he said.
The Franco-Malian tactician stressed that tournament success depends on depth, not just first-
choice players.
“If you want to win something, it is not only about eleven players. It is about the group.
Everybody deserves a chance because sometimes a player who plays only five minutes can bring
victory,” Chelle explained.
Chelle also rejected the idea that rotation would signal complacency. “This is a question of
management, not a lack of respect. I want to put the best team on the pitch at this moment. Of
course, we want to win,” he added.
Nigeria face a Uganda side chasing qualification, with kick-off set for 5pm local time, as Chelle
looks to balance results with a broader AFCON plan.
