Liam Rosenior is the frontrunner to replace Enzo Maresca as Chelsea head coach following the Italian’s departure on Thursday amid internal tensions with the club’s hierarchy.
Rosenior, currently in charge of Strasbourg, is highly rated within BlueCo, the ownership group that controls both clubs, and has strong internal backing at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are understood to be preparing for his possible arrival, with contingency plans already being explored at Strasbourg.
The 41-year-old has impressed in France after guiding Strasbourg into Europe with a seventh-place finish last season and establishing a clear playing identity aligned with Chelsea’s long-term vision.
Porto coach Francesco Farioli is also among those under consideration, though Rosenior is viewed as the leading option.
Chelsea Under-21s coach Calum McFarlane will take charge of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester City, while Maresca’s wider backroom staff have also exited the club.
