Cagliari caused a major Serie A upset as they edged Juventus 1-0 at the Unipol Domus, ending
the visitors’ eight-game unbeaten league run and claiming just their second win in 14 home
head-to-heads.
Juventus arrived in confident mood after a 5-0 win over Cremonese but struggled to impose
themselves in a flat first half.
Fabio Miretti tested Elia Caprile once, while a penalty appeal involving Luca Mazzitelli was
overturned after a VAR review.
The second half brought more urgency from the Bianconeri, with Caprile denying Andrea
Cambiaso and Miretti again failing to hit the target.
Despite Juventus’ growing pressure, it was Cagliari who struck decisively, Mazzitelli producing
a superb flicked volley from Gianluca Gaetano’s free-kick to beat Mattia Perin.
Juventus dominated possession late on but were met by stubborn resistance, with Kenan Yıldız
hitting the post.
The defeat leaves Juve 10 points off the top, while Cagliari move eight clear of the drop.
