Spurs Rally to Silence Protests in City Draw
Tottenham Hotspur staged a stirring second-half comeback to draw 2-2 with Manchester City after heading into the break two goals down and facing growing unrest in the stands.
With City in full control at half-time and protests planned over ticket prices and transfer policy, Dominic Solanke’s second goal, a brilliantly improvised scorpion kick, turned the mood inside the stadium and halted any talk of a walkout.
Instead, Spurs finished the match to a full house and loud support, a sharp contrast to the boos that rang out earlier.
“We can create something magic together when we are united,” manager Thomas Frank said. “When your back is against the wall, you need to fight. You can never give up.”
Tottenham sit 14th in the Premier League but are now unbeaten in four matches in all competitions and have reached the Champions League last 16.
Solanke has scored four goals in four starts since returning from injury, easing pressure on Frank after months of scrutiny.
“It’s quite evident he has been a big miss for us,” Frank added. “Four goals in four games speaks for itself.”
