Manchester City eased into the Carabao Cup final with a 3-1 win over Newcastle United
at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, sealing a dominant 5-1 aggregate victory in their
semi-final tie.
Omar Marmoush struck twice and Tijjani Reijnders added another as City extended their
long home dominance over Newcastle, scoring three times inside the opening 30
minutes to effectively settle the contest. James Trafford also played his part with a
series of saves to deny the visitors before the break.
Newcastle pulled one back in the second half through Anthony Elanga, but any hope of
a comeback was quickly extinguished as City managed the game comfortably to book
their first Carabao Cup final appearance since 2021.
Pep Guardiola’s side will face Arsenal in the final, while Newcastle’s struggles continued
with a third defeat
