D’TIGRESS SEEK RESPONSE AGAINST PHILIPPINES AFTER KOREA DEFEAT.
Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, will aim to bounce back when they
face the Philippines in their third game of the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying
Tournament in Lyon on Saturday.
The African champions suffered a 77-60 loss to South Korea after opening their
campaign with a dominant 70-37 win over Colombia.
Head coach Rena Wakama admitted Nigeria struggled against Korea’s aggressive
defence, saying the team’s poor shooting and 22 turnovers proved costly.
However, Wakama insisted the defeat would not shake the squad’s confidence,
stressing they would learn from the game and improve.
Veteran centre Victoria Macaulay also described the clash as a tough contest,
adding the team would use the setback as a lesson going forward.
