JUVENTUS SEE OFF GENOA TO RETURN TO WINNING WAYS.
Juventus returned to winning ways in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Genoa, thanks
to two early goals that set the tone in Turin.
The hosts made a flying start, taking the lead inside four minutes when Bremer rose
highest in a crowded area to head home a deflected effort beyond Justin Bijlow.
Juventus doubled their advantage in the 17 th minute, as Weston McKennie finished
off a swift counter-attack with a low first-time strike after being picked out by
Francisco Conceicao.
Juventus remained in control but were unable to add to their lead, with McKennie
wasting a clear chance from close range before the break.
Genoa showed more intent in the second half and were given a late opportunity to
get back into the contest when Bremer conceded a penalty.
However, Michele Di Gregorio produced a crucial save and reacted quickly to deny
the rebound, ensuring the hosts held firm.
The victory ends Juventus’ difficult run, marking just their third win in eight league
matches, while extending their unbeaten streak to five games.
Genoa, meanwhile, remains just six points above the relegation zone after suffering
consecutive defeats.
