Mohamed Salah netted his 50th European goal for Liverpool as they secured a spot in the Champions League last 16 with a 2-1 victory over 10-man Lille at Anfield.
Salah opened the scoring in the 34th minute, finishing off a precise pass from Curtis Jones. Lille, unbeaten in 21 games, put up early resistance but struggled after going a man down following Aissa Mandi’s dismissal for two bookings, one for dissent and another for fouling Luis Diaz.
Despite being a man short, Lille briefly leveled through Jonathan David after Hakon Haraldsson’s shot was blocked.
However, Liverpool quickly regained control when Harvey Elliott’s deflected strike found the bottom corner.
After the match, Elliott dismissed transfer speculation, reaffirming his commitment to the club.
Darwin Nunez had a late goal disallowed for offside, but the Reds maintained their perfect record in the league phase.
Liverpool, unbeaten in the competition so far, advance to the knockout stage as a seeded team, set to face a play-off winner in March.
