Spain’s national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, has extended his contract until 2028, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed on Monday.
De la Fuente, who took charge in 2022, led Spain to victory at Euro 2024 and the Nations League in 2023. His new deal covers both the 2026 World Cup and Euro 2028.
Before coaching the senior team, the 63-year-old guided Spain’s youth sides to success, winning the European Under-19 and Under-21 Championships.
He replaced Luis Enrique following Spain’s early exit from the 2022 World Cup and has since overseen a remarkable turnaround, including their record fourth Euro title.
Spain will kick off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign later this year, with a Nations League quarter-final clash against the Netherlands in March.
