ITALIAN SEMI-FINALIST COBOLLI REVEALS UNUSUAL GOOD-LUCK CHARM AT THE FRENCH OPEN.
Flavio Cobolli has revealed the unusual superstition he believes is helping fuel his
dream run at the French Open, with the Italian sticking to a strict routine as he
prepares for his maiden Grand Slam semi-final.
The 24-year-old, who reached the last four with a victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime,
admitted he has become more superstitious than usual during his impressive
campaign in Paris.
Cobolli said he has been visiting the same restaurant, ordering the same meals, and
most notably, using the same shower once favoured by 14-time French Open
Champion Rafael Nadal.
“I’m a little superstitious, but not crazy,” Cobolli said. “This week I’m a little more
crazier than the others.”
The Italian recalled a previous encounter with Nadal, who once reminded him that
the shower had been “his” for 14 years after finding Cobolli using it in the locker
room.
“So I think the best thing I’m doing this year is the shower,” he joked.
With a place in the final now within reach, Cobolli will be hoping his unusual good-
luck charm continues to work its magic in Paris.
