AUGER-ALIASSIME CRUISES INTO FIRST FRENCH OPEN QUARTER-FINAL.
Felix Auger-Aliassime reached the French Open quarter-finals for the first time with a
commanding straight-sets victory over Alejandro Tabilo on Monday.
The fourth seed produced one of his best displays of the tournament to defeat the
Chilean 6-3, 7-5, 6-1 in just over two hours.
“Today was the ideal scenario,” Auger-Aliassime said. “It was the best tennis I’ve
played here.”
The Canadian took control with an early break in the opening set before edging a
tighter second set and racing through the third as Tabilo faded.
The victory sends Auger-Aliassime into the last eight at Roland Garros for the first
time, where he will face Italy’s Flavio Cobolli.
“This has always been a dream for me,” he said. “I feel as if I’m at home.”
