MCGINN HAILS EMERY AFTER ASTON VILLA REACH EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL.
Aston Villa captain John McGinn praised manager Unai Emery after the club
stormed into the Europa League final with a 4-0 second-leg victory over Nottingham
Forest.
Villa overturned a first-leg deficit dominantly to book a meeting with Freiburg
in Istanbul on May 20, marking Emery’s sixth Europa League final as a coach.
“He’s experienced a lot more European semi-finals than us,” McGinn told TNT
Sports.
“In the Conference League semi-final, we probably went a little bit too gung-
ho, but today we managed it.”
The Scotland international also credited Emery for helping guide Villa through
another major European occasion.
“He’s been amazing,” McGinn added, while also paying tribute to former managers
Steve Bruce, Dean Smith, and Steven Gerrard for their influence on his career.
