Nottingham Forest produced a devastating first-half display to thrash Sunderland 5-0
at the Stadium of Light, moving eight points clear of the Premier League relegation
zone.
The visitors turned the game on its head after a bright Sunderland start, taking the
lead through an own goal by Trai Hume before quickly tightening their grip on the
contest.
Chris Wood punished a defensive error to double the lead, and Morgan Gibbs-White
added a third as Forest cut through the hosts with ease.
The first-half demolition was completed when Igor Jesus struck to make it four before
the break, leaving Sunderland with no way back.
A disallowed goal early in the second half ended any slim hopes of a response, and
Elliot Anderson added a late fifth to cap a dominant performance.
Forest’s emphatic win extends their unbeaten run and strengthens their survival
push, while Sunderland’s heavy defeat dents their push for a top-half finish.
