RC LENS WIN HISTORIC FIRST COUPE DE FRANCE TITLE.
RC Lens claimed the Coupe de France for the first time in club history after defeating
OGC Nice 3-1 in the final at the Stade de France.
Florian Thauvin opened the scoring with a composed finish before providing the
corner that led to Odsonne Édouard’s deflected header to double Lens’ advantage.
Nice pulled one back before half-time through Djibril Coulibaly, but Lens regained
control late on when Abdallah Sima poked home a third goal to seal a famous
victory.
Despite hitting the woodwork twice, Nice could not complete a comeback as Pierre
Sage’s side held firm to cap off a memorable season with silverware.
The result secures the first major domestic cup triumph in Lens’ history, while Nice
must now turn attention to their Ligue 1 relegation play-off against AS Saint-Étienne.
