SIMON, ADAMS ON TARGET AS NIGERIA BEAT IRAN IN ANTALYA.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a 2-1 win over Iran in an international friendly in
Antalya on Friday, extending their unbeaten run in regular time to eight matches.
Moses Simon opened the scoring in the sixth minute, finishing clinically after being
set up by Samuel Chukwueze.
Nigeria dominated much of the first half but could not add to their lead before the
break.
Akor Adams doubled the advantage early in the second half, calmly converting after
a clever pass from Ademola Lookman.
Debutants Emmanuel Fernandez and Chibuike Nwaiwu were introduced as coach
Eric Chelle rotated his squad.
Iran pulled one back through Mehdi Taremi in the 66th minute and briefly threatened
an equaliser, but a second effort was ruled out for handball in the build-up.
Late substitutions helped Nigeria see out the game, sealing their second-ever win
over Iran.
