TOTTENHAM FACE FINAL-DAY SURVIVAL BATTLE AFTER CHELSEA DEFEAT.
Tottenham’s relegation fears will go down to the final day of the Premier League
season after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea took control of the London derby through captain Enzo Fernández, who
curled home from long range in the first half before later providing the assist for
Andrey Santos to double the lead after the break.
Richarlison gave Spurs hope in the 74th minute when he fired home from close range
after a clever flick by Pape Matar Sarr, but Roberto De Zerbi’s side could not find an
equaliser despite late pressure.
James Maddison came closest in stoppage time with a free-kick that flew over the
bar as Chelsea held on to end their seven-match winless league run and boost their
hopes of European qualification.
The defeat leaves Tottenham needing at least a point against Everton on the final
day to guarantee survival, while Chelsea climbed back into the European places.
