VINICIUS BRACE SENDS BRAZIL INTO WORLD CUP KNOCKOUTS.
Brazil secured their place in the World Cup knockout stage with a commanding 3-0
victory over Scotland in Miami on Wednesday.
Vinicius Junior starred for the five-time world champions, scoring twice in the first half
to put Brazil firmly in control.
The Real Madrid forward’s opener came after capitalising on a defensive error
before he headed home a second from Bruno Guimaraes’ cross.
Matheus Cunha added Brazil’s third goal after the break, rounding off another
dominant display from Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
The victory sees Brazil advance to the Round of 32, while Vinicius became only the
fifth Brazilian player to score in all three group-stage matches of a World Cup
campaign.
Scotland improved after halftime and forced Alisson Becker into a couple of saves,
but they could not find a way back into the contest and must now wait to discover
whether they will progress as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.
Brazil, meanwhile, continues its pursuit of a first World Cup title in 24 years.
