Antonio Conte told Napoli to savour the moment after a 2-0 win over Torino lifted them three points clear at the top of Serie A and secured their return to the Champions League.
Scott McTominay’s first-half double punished Torino at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, as Napoli took advantage of Inter Milan’s shock home loss to Roma.
“We are mathematically in the Champions League, a very important economic goal for the club, and you have to enjoy it at least a little,” Conte said.
Despite the pressure of the title race, Conte insisted he did not burden his players before kick-off. “I wanted to leave free will, knowing that we could also lose mental energy,” he said.
Injuries to Frank Anguissa and Alessandro Buongiorno tempered the celebrations, but Conte remained calm: “We’re used to dealing with emergencies and we’ll continue to do so without problems.”
