Bayern Munich sealed their 33rd Bundesliga title on Sunday without kicking a ball, after Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw at Freiburg handed the Bavarians an unassailable lead with two games to spare.

Leverkusen needed a win to stay in the race after Bayern’s 3-3 draw at RB Leipzig on Saturday. But despite a late fightback, they fell short, leaving Bayern eight points clear on 76.

Head coach Vincent Kompany, in his debut season at the club, praised his players for “winning it as a team” and urged focus ahead of their final home game, where they’ll lift the trophy.

England captain Harry Kane, celebrating his first major career title, shared jubilant scenes from Munich, while Freiburg’s fiery display kept their Champions League hopes alive and denied Leverkusen a last-gasp lifeline.

Xabi Alonso, who may depart Leverkusen this summer, offered a gracious nod to Bayern, admitting, “They were the better, more consistent team.”
