Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has called for focus and determination as Nigeria gear up for two decisive 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.

Nigeria’s campaign has been shaky, with just one win in six games so far. The team sits fourth in Group C with seven points, trailing leaders South Africa by six.

They will host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Saturday before travelling to Bloemfontein to face the Bafana Bafana three days later.

“The boys are very focused. We are looking forward to the game on Saturday,” Troost-Ekong told NFF TV. “We know the gravity of these games and we will focus on preparation.”

The Super Eagles’ hopes are also tied to an ongoing disciplinary matter, with South Africa potentially facing a points deduction after fielding an ineligible player against Lesotho in March. Still, Troost-Ekong insists the team must take matters into their own hands by securing maximum points from the remaining fixtures.

Rwanda currently sit second on eight points, level with Benin Republic, while Lesotho have six and Zimbabwe four.

After this double-header in September, Nigeria will close their campaign in October with matches against Lesotho away and Benin Republic at home.
