Nigeria Ends Mozambique Dream to March into AFCON Quarter-finals

Nigeria kept their Africa Cup of Nations title charge firmly on track with a dominant 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the round of 16, ending the Mambas’ historic run in emphatic fashion.

The Super Eagles, runners-up at the last edition, took control from the outset and were rewarded in the 21st minute when Ademola Lookman fired into the top corner for his third goal of the tournament.

Five minutes later, Victor Osimhen tapped in at the back post after a clever touch from Akor Adams.

Nigeria continued to dictate proceedings after the break, with Osimhen adding his second goal from close range following another Lookman delivery.

Akor Adams then capped the performance late on, cutting inside and smashing home to complete a comprehensive win.

Eric Chelle’s side have now won their opening four matches at the tournament for the first time and remain firmly in the hunt for a first AFCON title since 2013.
