Arthur Okonkwo was the hero as Wrexham knocked Premier League Nottingham Forest out of the FA Cup on penalties after a 3-3 draw following extra time at the Racecourse Ground.
Wrexham led 2-0 through Liberato Cacace and Oliver Rathbone, and restored their two-goal advantage when Dominic Hyam scored after Igor Jesus had pulled one back for Forest.
Callum Hudson-Odoi’s late double, including an 89th-minute strike, forced extra time.
In the shootout, Okonkwo made two crucial saves to secure a 4-3 penalty win, sealing Wrexham’s first FA Cup victory over top-flight opposition in 26 years.
“It’s a huge night for us,” said Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson. “I’m pleased for this group of players to write their own bit of history in the club’s rich FA Cup heritage.”
Forest boss Sean Dyche was blunt after the defeat, saying: “The first half is completely unacceptable. Certain individuals have got to look in the mirror.”
