Pistons Hold Off Nuggets to Stay East Leaders
Cade Cunningham scored 22 points as the Detroit Pistons survived a late scare to edge
a depleted Denver Nuggets side 109-107 on the road.
Detroit stretched their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference standings to improve to
34-11 after nearly squandering an 18-point second-quarter advantage. Denver, missing
Nikola Jokic and four key starters, rallied to within one point late on, but Jamal Murray
missed two of three free throws with one second left to seal the Pistons’ escape.
Elsewhere, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 29 points as Oklahoma City Thunder beat
the New Orleans Pelicans 104-95 to move to 38-10, while Joel Embiid and Paul George
combined for 61 points as the Philadelphia 76ers thrashed the Milwaukee Bucks 139-
122.
The New York Knicks also claimed a third straight win, defeating the Sacramento Kings
103-87 at Madison Square Garden.
