City Boss Guardiola Reaffirms Faith in Haaland.
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has insisted Erling Haaland is still the best striker
in the world, despite declining to confirm whether the forward will start Sunday’s crucial
Premier League clash with Liverpool.
Haaland has managed just two goals in his last 12 appearances and was left on the
bench for City’s League Cup semi-final win over Newcastle.
Even so, Guardiola was emphatic in his backing.
“I don’t know until tomorrow. But all I say is Erling Is the best. Erling is the best striker in
the world,” he said on Friday.
Guardiola also played down speculation over his own future, repeating that his situation
has not changed.
“I have one more year on my contract. It is the same answer I answered two months
ago,” he added.
The City boss further defended his right to speak on global issues after facing criticism
for recent comments.
“Why should I not express how I feel just because I am a manager? I condemn all of
them. All of them,” Guardiola said.
