PASSIONATE PEP LEADS CITY TO ANOTHER TROPHY.
Pep Guardiola’s fiery touchline sprint and celebration told the story as Manchester
City beat Arsenal 2-0 to win the Carabao Cup.
Guardiola lost himself in the moment after Nico O’Reilly headed home his second
goal in four minutes to seal the final, later joking he “wanted another yellow card” and
insisting his reaction was simply raw emotion.
City had grown into the game after surviving early Arsenal pressure, before taking
full control in the second half.
O’Reilly opened the scoring just past the hour mark after a goalkeeping error, then
doubled the lead moments later with a powerful header.
Guardiola’s side saw out the closing stages comfortably to secure his record fifth title
in the competition, while also extending City’s remarkable dominance in domestic
cup finals.
Arsenal, meanwhile, were left frustrated after a timid display, offering little attacking
edge until late on as their wait for a first trophy since 2020 continued.
