England rounded off their World Cup preparations with a comfortable 3-0 victory over
Costa Rica in Orlando on Tuesday.

After the kick-off was delayed by an hour due to storms in Florida, the Three Lions
quickly settled into their rhythm and took the lead in the ninth minute when Declan
Rice finished from Anthony Gordon’s cut-back.

England controlled the contest throughout and doubled their advantage in the
second half, when Gordon converted from the penalty spot after a handball in the
area.

Substitute Ollie Watkins added a third late on to cap an encouraging afternoon for
manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of next week’s World Cup opener against Croatia.

The win gives England momentum heading into the tournament, while Costa Rica’s
winless run extended to six matches.
