Mohamed Salah delivered another standout performance in Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of West Ham, but the Egyptian star revealed that he is still “far away” from agreeing a new contract with the Premier League leaders.

Salah, who scored one goal and set up two others at the London Stadium, now tops the Premier League charts for goals and assists this season with 17 and 13, respectively. Despite his remarkable form, Salah’s future remains uncertain as he enters the final six months of his contract.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Salah declined to provide any encouraging updates on his contract talks. “We are far away from that,” he said. “I don’t want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff, but nothing really has moved on. Now I am focused on the team, and hopefully, we win the Premier League.”

Liverpool, now eight points clear at the top of the table, are enjoying an incredible season under coach Arne Slot. Salah’s performances have been pivotal, with Sunday marking the eighth match this season in which he has both scored and assisted—a Premier League record.

The forward has also recorded 30 goal involvements in just 18 league games, achieving the feat faster than any other player in Premier League history. Across all competitions, Salah’s 52 goal involvements in 2024 are unmatched in Europe’s top leagues.

Despite his impressive output, Salah remains focused on team success. “The only thing in my mind is that I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of it,” he said.

“We are in the right direction, but there are other teams trying to catch up with us. We just need to stay humble and go again.” Liverpool face additional contract concerns with key players Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk also nearing the end of their deals. However, coach Arne Slot downplayed any negativity surrounding the trio’s future.

“I don’t think it’s negative at all,” Slot said. “I’m really happy with Trent, as I am with Mo and Virgil. For me, there’s no difference. Maybe there is more happening in the media [with Trent] than the other two, but I’m really happy with the three.”

As Liverpool continue their dominant campaign, fans and pundits alike will watch closely to see whether Salah and his teammates commit their futures to the club or seek opportunities elsewhere.
