Sergio Conceicao, newly appointed manager of AC Milan, expressed pride in taking on the challenge of restoring the club to its former glory, with his first task being a high-stakes showdown against Juventus—where his son plays.

Conceicao, who succeeded Paulo Fonseca after Milan’s underwhelming start to the Serie A season, faces a tough road ahead.

The team currently sits eighth in the league, 14 points adrift of leaders Atalanta with only seven wins from 17 matches.

“I’m proud to take on this adventure,” Conceicao said upon his appointment. “The emotions are temporary because we need to work hard. We represent a great club, and we need to honor that legacy.”

Milan’s new boss, who previously managed Porto for seven years, will immediately lead his squad to Riyadh for the Italian Super Cup semi-final against Juventus on Friday.

Though time is short, Conceicao remains confident, saying, “We must work as hard as possible to make the players understand their roles individually and as a team.”

The upcoming match is particularly special for Conceicao, whose history with Juventus dates back to his Lazio debut in 1998, when he scored a dramatic winner in the Super Cup.

Adding to the personal significance, his son, Francisco, now plays for Juventus after joining on loan from Porto—where he was coached by his father.

Conceicao’s appointment marks a new chapter for AC Milan, and the manager is determined to guide the team back to its rightful place in European football.
