Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has been suspended for two matches by the Football Association following a confrontation with Ipswich security earlier this month.

The Brazilian striker, 25, was fined £80,000 for misconduct after elbowing an Ipswich staff member and forcibly removing his glasses during an altercation after Wolves’ 2-1 defeat to Ipswich at Molineux.

Cunha will miss Wolves’ Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest and their FA Cup third-round tie against Bristol City. The defeat to Ipswich, marked by Jack Taylor’s injury-time winner, also led to the sacking of manager Gary O’Neil, who has since been replaced by Vitor Pereira.

The FA found Cunha guilty of improper conduct, while teammate Rayan Ait-Nouri received a second yellow card for his role in the post-match scuffle.

Despite the controversy, Cunha has been in excellent form, scoring in victories over Leicester City and Manchester United and contributing to a 2-2 draw with Tottenham. With 10 goals in 19 league appearances this season, Cunha remains a key player as Wolves sit just one point above the relegation zone.
