Super Eagles invitee, Gift Orban has arrived in Germany to finalize his move from Olympique Lyon to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, according to reports.
The transfer, expected to be completed during the January window, will mark a fresh start for the 21-year-old Nigerian forward after a challenging stint in Ligue 1.
Orban joined Lyon last year in a €14 million deal, including bonuses, after a standout spell with KAA Gent.
However, he struggled to adapt to the French league, scoring just five goals in 21 appearances, leading Lyon to deem him surplus to requirements.
Hoffenheim, currently 15th in the Bundesliga standings, emerged as the frontrunner among several European clubs interested in the Togo-born striker.
Reports indicate that Orban is in the final stages of sealing the transfer, with Hoffenheim’s €10 million offer meeting Lyon’s demands after extensive negotiations.
The move represents a financial loss for Lyon, who had invested heavily in the promising forward but saw his value drop due to his struggles in France.
Despite competition from RC Lens, Hoffenheim’s proposal stood out, offering Orban a chance to revive his career in the German top flight.
Barring unforeseen setbacks, Orban is set to make his Bundesliga debut early next year, bringing fresh attacking options to Hoffenheim as they look to climb the league table.
