BELGIUM RUN RIOT WITH FIVE-STAR DISPLAY AGAINST USA.
Belgium national football team produced a ruthless second-half performance to
defeat the United States men’s national soccer team 5-2 in an entertaining international
friendly, extending their unbeaten run to 10 matches.
The visitors threatened early through Alexis Saelemaekers, but the USA grew into
the contest and took the lead when Weston McKennie finished from close range.
Belgium responded just before the break, as Zeno Debast struck from distance to
level the score.
The game swung decisively after half-time. Amadou Onana put Belgium ahead
before Charles De Ketelaere converted from the penalty spot to stretch the lead.
Substitute Dodi Lukebakio then took centre stage, scoring twice, including a stunning
effort from the edge of the box, as Belgium ran away with the contest.
A late strike from Patrick Agyemang offered the hosts some consolation, but it did
little to mask a difficult night for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who suffered their first-
ever defeat in Georgia.
