HULL CITY WIN PROMOTION WITH LAST-GASP STRIKE.

Hull City A.F.C. secured a dramatic return to the Premier League after defeating
Middlesbrough F.C. 1-0 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

The contest looked destined for extra time after a tense battle with few clear-cut
opportunities, although Oli McBurnie had earlier struck the crossbar for Hull before
the break.

With seconds remaining, McBurnie emerged as the hero when he bundled home in
the 95th minute to spark wild celebrations among the Hull supporters.

“It’s unbelievable. We never stopped believing,” McBurnie said after sealing
promotion.

The Tigers managed the closing moments well to confirm their return to the top flight
after nine years away from the Premier League.

For Middlesbrough, the defeat means another season in the Championship despite
finishing above Hull during the regular campaign.
