RANGERS CLINCH NPFL TITLE AS REMO STARS SUFFER SHOCK RELEGATION.
Enugu Rangers were crowned Nigeria Premier Football League champions for a
ninth time after a tense 2-1 win over Ikorodu City FC on a dramatic final day in
Lagos.
The decisive victory came through a brace from Chidiebere Nwobodo, as Rangers
held firm despite a response from Moses Ali to secure the points that sealed the title.
Elsewhere, Rivers United kept the pressure on with a 3-0 win over Katsina United,
but finished just one point behind the champions.
In a dramatic twist at the other end of the table, Remo Stars were relegated after a
late equaliser for Bendel Insurance FC and results elsewhere condemned them to
the drop.
The Sky Blue Stars became the first defending NPFL champions in over a decade to
suffer relegation, completing a stunning collapse in fortunes.
