SINNER SEALS SUNSHINE DOUBLE WITH MIAMI TITLE.
World number two Jannik Sinner defeated Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday to win the
Miami Masters 1000 and complete a dominant “Sunshine Double.”
Untroubled by rain delays, Sinner became the first man since Roger Federer in 2017
to sweep Indian Wells and Miami, and the first to do so without dropping a set.
The Italian has now won three straight Masters 1000 titles, continuing a superb run
that began in Paris last year.
He secured one break in each set and held firm under pressure to seal his second
Miami crown, while Lehecka, in his first Masters 1000 final, will rise to a career-high
ranking of 14.
Sinner’s triumph, alongside Aryna Sabalenka’s win, marks the first men’s and
women’s Sunshine Double since Novak Djokovic and Victoria Azarenka in 2016.
