Jamaica moved closer to the 2026 World Cup with a 1-0 win over New Caledonia in
their inter-confederation playoff at Estadio Akron.
Bailey Cadamarteri struck the winner in the 18th minute, reacting quickest after
goalkeeper Rocky Nyikeine spilled Ronaldo Webster’s low free kick.
Andre Blake later preserved the lead with a key save to deny Georges Gope-
Fenepej.
Despite further chances, Jamaica could not extend its lead but held on to secure
victory and book a decisive clash with DR Congo for a place at the tournament.
The Reggae Boyz are now one win away from a second-ever World Cup
appearance, their first since 1998.
