WOLFF BACKS HAMILTON AS TITLE THREAT AFTER FERRARI BREAKTHROUGH.
Former Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff believes Lewis Hamilton is firmly back in
The Formula One title race after claiming his first Grand Prix victory for Ferrari.
Hamilton ended a nearly two-year wait for a race win with victory at the Spanish Grand
Prix in Barcelona, moving up to second in the drivers’ standings behind Mercedes’
Kimi Antonelli.
“I’d rather not fight with him for a title because I know what he’s capable of,” Wolff
said. “If he smells blood, he goes. Once the Lewis Hamilton train starts rolling, it’s
very difficult to stop.”
The seven-time world champion has now recorded three straight podium finishes
and appears increasingly comfortable at Ferrari after a difficult start to life with the
Italian team.
Wolff pointed to Hamilton’s renewed confidence and positive environment at Ferrari
as key factors behind his resurgence.
“The dynamics in the team look good. He looks very happy,” he said. “I think it’s a
combination of emotional, personal, and professional factors.”
Despite the growing excitement around Hamilton’s championship chances, Ferrari
boss Fred Vasseur urged caution.
“Two weeks ago, everything was a disaster, and now we are talking about the world
championship,” Vasseur said. “The approach is to keep working and not think about
the championship.”
Hamilton’s Barcelona success made him a race winner with McLaren, Mercedes, and
Ferrari further strengthening his legacy as one of Formula One’s greatest drivers.
