Brentford stunned Premier League champions Liverpool with a 3–2 victory at the Gtech Community Stadium, piling more pressure on Arne Slot after another shaky defensive display.

The hosts flew out of the blocks, taking the lead in the fifth minute when Dango Ouattara fired home from Michael Kayode’s long throw.

Kevin Schade doubled the advantage just before half-time, finishing coolly from Mikkel Damsgaard’s precise pass.

Milos Kerkez pulled one back for Liverpool in added time, but Brentford restored their two-goal cushion on the hour through Igor Thiago’s penalty after a VAR check on Virgil van Dijk’s foul. Mohamed Salah struck late, yet the champions couldn’t find a leveller.

Keith Andrews’ side were full value for the win, showing energy and purpose throughout.

The result moves Brentford up to 10th, while Liverpool sit sixth, four points off top spot.

Liverpool host Crystal Palace next in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, 29 October (8:45 p.m. WAT), while Brentford visit Grimsby a day earlier at the same time.
