Kano Pillars finally stopped their seven-match slide with a hard-earned 2-1 win over Ikorodu City on NPFL matchday 14, a result that also ended the visitors’ eight-game unbeaten run.

Rabiu Ali struck inside three minutes before Olakunle Alaka doubled the lead half an hour later. Ikorodu City pulled one back through Joseph Arumala just before the interval, but they could not find an equaliser after the break and dropped from first to second on the table.

Pillars, however, remain bottom with nine points and continue to feel the effects of their three-point deduction and home-banishment to Katsina.

In Ilorin, Katsina United edged Enyimba 3-2 in a pulsating encounter. Jamilu Yusuf and Uche Collins pushed Katsina into a two-goal lead before Stanley Dimgba hit back for Enyimba.

Collins responded instantly to restore the cushion, and although Issah Mohammed reduced the deficit, Enyimba could not complete the comeback.

The defeat deepens Enyimba’s troubles after the exit of coach Stanley Eguma, leaving them 14th and drifting dangerously towards the relegation zone.

Katsina United, meanwhile, climbed to eighth and continue to show progress despite their enforced move to Ilorin.

Looking ahead, Enyimba host Enugu Rangers in a key fixture, Katsina United travel to Bayelsa United, Ikorodu City face Abia Warriors, and Kano Pillars take a break as their meeting with Rivers United has been postponed.
