VALVERDE DENIES FIGHT WITH TCHOUAMENI AFTER HOSPITAL VISIT.
Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has denied reports he came to blows with
team-mate Aurelien Tchouameni after a dressing room altercation left him with a
head injury.
Valverde was taken to the hospital following the incident and diagnosed with a
cranioencephalic trauma after suffering what he described as a small cut to his
forehead.
“At no point did my teammate hit me, and I didn’t hit him either,” Valverde wrote on
Instagram. “I accidentally hit a table.”
The Uruguay international admitted tensions boiled over during an argument linked
to Real Madrid’s difficult season, with the club sitting 11 points behind Barcelona and
already out of the Champions League.
“I’m truly sorry because this situation hurts me,” he added. “Real Madrid is one of the
most important things in my life.”
Real Madrid has opened disciplinary proceedings against both players, while
Valverde is expected to miss Sunday’s crucial El Clásico against Barcelona.
