BELGIUM EXTENDS UNBEATEN RUN WITH CROATIA VICTORY.
Belgium continued their impressive build-up to the FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 victory
over Croatia, extending their unbeaten run to 12 matches.
Rudi Garcia’s side took the lead in the first half when Youri Tielemans capitalised on
a defensive lapse after good work from Jeremy Doku, who was a constant threat
throughout.
Croatia pushed for an equaliser, with Luka Modric and substitute Ante Budimir both
going close, while Thibaut Courtois produced a key save to preserve Belgium’s
advantage before the break.
Romelu Lukaku then marked his first Belgium appearance in a year by coming off
the bench to seal the win late on, strengthening his case for a starting role at the
World Cup.
The result leaves Belgium in a confident mood ahead of their final warm-up match
against Tunisia, while Croatia head into their remaining preparations looking to
bounce back from consecutive friendly defeats.
