Aston Villa F.C. strengthened their push for Champions League qualification with an
impressive 4-2 win over Liverpool F.C. at Villa Park.

Morgan Rogers opened the scoring just before half-time with a curling finish from a
short corner routine, before Virgil van Dijk equalised early in the second half with a
header from Dominik Szoboszlai’s delivery.

Villa quickly regained control as Ollie Watkins restored the lead with a smart finish in
the 61st minute before adding another from close range later on.

John McGinn then wrapped up the victory with a stunning strike into the top corner,
while Van Dijk grabbed a late consolation for Liverpool in stoppage time.

“We played with great intensity and quality,” said Villa boss Unai Emery after the win.

The result secures Villa’s Champions League place through the league and gives
them a major boost ahead of the Europa League final.
