HAVERTZ FIRES ARSENAL CLOSER TO PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE.
Arsenal moved a step closer to a first Premier League title in 22 years after Kai
Havertz’s first-half header secured a narrow 1-0 win over already-relegated Burnley.
The Gunners dominated much of the contest at the Emirates Stadium, with Leandro
Trossard striking the post before Havertz finally broke the deadlock from a corner,
heading home, Bukayo Saka’s delivery for Arsenal’s record-extending 18 th set-piece
goal of the league season.
Burnley threatened occasionally through Eberechi Eze, who forced saves and later
clipped the crossbar, but Mikel Arteta’s side held firm to claim a third straight 1-0
league victory.
The result piles pressure on Manchester City ahead of their game against
Bournemouth on Tuesday, with any slip-up handing Arsenal a huge advantage in the
title race before the final day of the season.
For Burnley, the defeat leaves them at risk of recording their lowest-ever number of
wins in a top-flight campaign.
