DR Congo qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 52 years after a 1-0 extra-
time victory over Jamaica in their play-off clash in Mexico.
Cedric Bakambu twice had goals ruled out for offside as DR Congo dominated large
spells but failed to break the deadlock in normal time, with Andre Blake keeping
Jamaica in the contest.
Jamaica offered a limited threat but stayed resilient, forcing the game into extra time
despite sustained pressure from Les Leopards.
The breakthrough finally came in the 100th minute when Axel Tuanzebe bundled
home from close range following a corner.
Jamaica pushed late on but could not find an equaliser, as DR Congo sealed
qualification and booked their place in Group K alongside Portugal, Uzbekistan, and
Colombia.
