Bukayo Saka says Arsenal F.C. has finally silenced its critics after lifting the
Premier League title following a 22-year wait.

The England winger reflected on the club’s struggles in 2020, when Arsenal sat 15 th
in the table, admitting he was in a “dark place” during a difficult spell.

“I was in a dark place,” Saka said. “At that moment, we were very low and far from
the level I believe Arsenal should be. No more jokes, it’s our time.”

Saka, who celebrated the title win after a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace F.C.,
described the moment as “surreal” as Arsenal ended years of disappointment.

Midfielder Declan Rice also revealed how a post-defeat message after losing to
Manchester City F.C. helped galvanise the squad.

“We just said, ‘There are five games, we can’t throw it away,’” Rice said. “After that,
we played with more freedom and belief.”

Arsenal went on a perfect run to the end of the season as City slipped up, sealing a
famous title triumph under Mikel Arteta.
