Barcelona manager Hansi Flick lauded his side’s resilience after a dramatic 3-2 extra-time victory over Real Madrid secured their record-extending 32nd Copa del Rey title on Saturday night.
The German, chasing a historic treble, urged his players to savor the Clasico triumph before turning their attention to Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan.
“It has been a simply perfect night,” Flick said. “I am very proud. It’s amazing what they are doing, how they fight. They never give up.”
Roared on by thousands of fans, Barcelona pulled off their third straight win over Madrid this season, having thrashed them 4-0 in LaLiga and 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup.
The blaugranas, unbeaten domestically since December, are playing some of Europe’s best football and sit four points clear of Madrid in LaLiga.
Flick credited his players’ mentality for their surge, highlighting the positive atmosphere built since his arrival.
“It gives a lot of confidence,” he said. “If we keep our feet on the ground, the sky is the limit.”
With a league decider looming on May 11 and European glory still in reach, Barcelona’s dream season marches on.
