Harry Kane struck twice as Bayern Munich maintained their flawless start to the season with a 4-1 comeback victory over Cologne in the German Cup second round on Wednesday night, setting a new European record of 14 straight wins across all competitions.

Bayern were briefly rattled when Ragnar Ache’s 31st-minute header gave the hosts a shock lead, but the champions responded in devastating fashion.

Luis Díaz levelled from close range just five minutes later, before Kane turned brilliantly to curl a stunning left-footed effort into the top corner to complete the turnaround.

Kane added his second in the 64th minute, heading home from a corner to make it 22 goals in 14 games since joining Bayern. Michael Olise later sealed the result, tapping in after Díaz’s neat assist.

With the victory, Bayern not only marched into the next round but also made history as the first European team to start a season with 14 consecutive wins. Their attention now turns to next week’s Champions League showdown against Paris Saint-Germain.
